The US government has put Huawei on its Entity List which means US companies have to get the government’s permission to supply Huawei with their products.

ZTE is already on the list.

At the same time, Huawei switchgear has been banned from US networks.

Huawei said that  “restricting Huawei from doing business in the U.S. will not make the U.S. more secure or stronger; instead, this will only serve to limit the U.S. to inferior yet more expensive alternatives, leaving the U.S. lagging behind in 5G deployment.”

German and UK telcos have warned that not using Huawei equipment will delay 5G by two years.
