Until they get the new licences, US companies have to stop trading with companies on the list.

There are 44 Chinese companies and R&D institutions on the list including the world’s largest LED manufacturer Xiamen San’an Optoelectronics.

Applied Materials has already stopped supplying equipment to Xiamen San’an.

 Other Chinese customers of Applied are Xi’an Jiaotong University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

China represents about a quarter of Applied’s total sales.

As well as China companies, the list contains four institutions from UAE, two in Malaysia and one in Indonesia.
