The China semiconductor industry had sales of $97.3 billion  last year, says China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The China IC industry had a CAGR 20.3% 2018-8,  said Ren Aiguang, who heads up the IC office in MITT, told XinhuaNet.

Revenue from IC design and manufacturing increased last year while sales from IC packaging and test shrank, said Ren.

Ren added that sales of mid range and low-end tech chips made up for a large share of the China sales revenues and that the country lagged behind in leading edge products like memory chips.
