The semiconductor materials market grew 10.6% in 2018 to a record $51.9 billion says SEMI.

The previous high of  $47.1 billion was set in 2011.

2018 sales of wafer fabrication materials were up 15.9% y-o y at $32.2 billion and sales of packaging materials were up 3% at $19.7 billion.

Taiwan, at $11.4 billion, was the largest consumer of semiconductor materials. Korea was second with China third.

The materials markets in South Korea, Europe, Taiwan, and China saw the strongest revenue growth, while the North America, Rest of World (ROW) and Japan markets experienced single-digit growth.
