Thermal performance of DC-DC converter with heatsink

The base plate, even with heatsink, would have limited improvement to the thermal performance when the forced airflow is not available.  Base plate and heatsink work with convective thermal distribution path. For no airflow application, thermal conductive path should be more effective. The ideal way to use converters under no airflow condition is to attach the base plate to a cold wall (for example metal chassis).
