The electric vehicles (EVs) revolution is speeding up the trend towards a more sustainable future. EVs make use of at least three types of electronic units for energy conversion: DC/DC converters from high voltage to 12-v to power the low-voltage electronics; a DC/AC traction inverter to drive the electric motors, typically a three-phase one, which supplies the power to the wheels, and AC/DC converters for vehicle batteries recharging both during braking energy recovery and from standard residential or high-power charging stations (for fast charging).

According to the World Economic Forum, 215 million electric passenger vehicles will be on the road by 2030. With such a rapid adoption of electric vehicles over the next decade, the demand for supporting technologies will continue to increase.
